It was denied the chance to run at Orange on December 29 but Always Sure ($5) made the most of its trip to the Central West on Friday as the Warwick Farm-based gelding blitzed the competition in the $22,000 On-Trac AG Class 2 Handicap (1400m).

Claire Cunningham's product was firm in the market all day but when he left the mounting yard, drifted slightly as Nuke ($3.60) started favourite.
But the odds wouldn't defy the three-year-old as Cowra jockey Matthew Cahill gave him a great ride before helping the speedster explode down the straight.
Always Sure jumped swiftly but was pulled back to sit midfield as Cahill was happy to watch the others in front of him.
The gelding looked well within himself when he approached the 400-metre mark as Cahill steered him out to the middle of the track and gave him an opportunity.
It was one he took with four hoofs as the Sydney horse found a gear the rest of the field couldn't match as he made the others look like they were walking.
"He needed to get a nice run and he did" Cahill said.
"Coming to the 500, I eased him a bit wider and it still felt like I had a bit of horse underneath me.
"He let down nicely in the straight and put them away pretty quickly... it was quite impressive."
Cahill wasn't surprised at the condition of the horse and credited that to the stables it comes from.

"It's from Claire Cunningham's stables and she's a good trainer," he said.
"She rang me this morning and said the horse was very fit and she was happy with him.
"He had a nice run throughout."
Buzz 'n' Joe ($9) ran a brave second while the heavily backed Nuke finished third.
Local hope Vaquero was cast wide for the whole race and didn't feature towards the end. He wound up finishing sixth.
