Among the businesses that noticed the increased visitation was Orange Ex-Services' Club.
Food and beverage manager Tusi Sola said the club was following NSW government health guidelines while it met the additional demand.
"I do know from a food and beverage operational point of view we've done very well," Mr Sola said.
"2020 from Christmas to New Year was better than last year."
Mr Sola said the club has implemented mandatory QR codes, sanitation, and restrictions including no singing or dancing, to address the coronavirus risk.
He said some of the members are elderly and either have trouble navigating with their devices or don't have a phone so the club has devices so their details can be filled out.
Orange City Council's employment and economic development committee chairman Tony Mileto said the number of people stopping at the Visitors Information Centre increased significantly since June.
In December the almost 12,000 people came through the Visitor Information Centre and more than 4300 people visited between Monday December 28 to Sunday January 3.
"In the same week period the year before there were 1300 people through the doors, a whopping 230 per cent increase in visitation.
Cr Mileto said businesses saw a sharp increase in customers; from locals to visitors who would otherwise have chosen to holiday abroad.
