Jeremy and Juliet Norris have taken over the former Two Fat Ladies and Molly's Lollies shops in Lucknow with the aim of creating a new coffee and homewares venue just out of Orange.
Larder and Home opens on Saturday.
"We've been talking about doing it for years," he said.
Mr Norris said the Larder-part would provide coffee and food while his wife's adjacent Juliet Horsley Home store would sell home furnishings.
The tables and chairs customers used to eat the food, and the cutlery and plates they used, were all put up for sale.
COPPERHEAD SNAKE FOUND OUTSIDE ORANGE
Wet, warm weather brought out the frogs on September 21, and that meant the hungry copperheads weren't far behind.
Spring is their most enjoyable season, according to local snake wrangler Jake Hansen, and a plump juicy frog, or perhaps a few smaller models, are just the ticket for a copperhead emerging from a long period of lethargy.
Hansen was called out on Saturday, September 19 to a property near Gosling Creek where a copperhead had been bailed up in a backyard by two barking dogs.
"If you're going to have a venomous snake that's our most common, probably the copperhead would be the best one of the bunch," said Mr Hansen. "They're very placid, very laid back. But they do get riled up if you interfere with them."
Fortunately the pooches had chosen to create a carry-on rather than approach.
"It very much depends on the dog and its personality and temperament," said Mr Hansen. "Some dogs don't care about a snake, they'll watch it slither past; others will attack; others will try and play with them; and some will stand off and bounce around and bark at them."
He said Jack Russells and Staffordshire Bull Terriers were among the dogs more likely to want to get involved with the snake.
INVESTIGATION AFTER COVID CASE IN PARKES
Services Australia confirmed on September 3 the reported COVID-19 case in Parkes was a staff member at the Parkes Service Centre on Currajong Street.
On the Thursday Services Australia said the staff member had tested positive and the venue had been closed for a number of days.
"A deep clean has been completed and we're continuing to work with NSW Health, to ensure the safety of customers and our staff.
"We thank the community for their patience while this takes place. We are aiming to reopen on Friday September 4. We'll let the community know if that changes.
"In the meantime, customers can do most of their business online or call their main payment line for urgent matters," says Services Australia.
Earlier, the Western NSW Local Health District confirmed a reported a case of COVID-19 in the Parkes Local Government Area.
TEENAGER HURT AT MOUNT CANOBOLAS
State Emergency Service and Central West Police District crews extracted a teenager on September 23 who rolled 30 metres down an embankment at Federal Falls.
The crews conducted a "vertical rescue" at Mount Canobolas after an 18-year-old fell. The teenager was taken to Orange hospital with minor injuries and in a stable condition after being extracted just after 4.45pm.
An SES spokesperson confirmed the teenager had fallen about 150 metres away from the falls.
It's believed she was taken down the mountain and out through 4WD tracks.
The teenager was not believed to have fallen off the top of the waterfall.
Three ambulance crews were in attendance, with her condition described as minor.
The NSW Ambulance media spokesperson said emergency services were called at about 1pm, with eight crews called in expectation of a several-hour extraction.
CODY RAMSEY MAKES DEBUT FOR DRAGONS
His mum said it, his dad said it, and his coach said it, too; Cody Ramsey's National Rugby League breakthrough can be put down to one thing - determination.
As reported on September 11, Ramsey is the first on the training paddock and he's the last to leave.
He's always putting in extra work away from the field, and it's been that way for as long as anyone who knows the former Cabonne Roo, Orange CYMS and Manildra Rhinos' livewire can remember.
The 20-year-old Molong product made his long-awaited NRL debut at 3pm on Saturday, September 12, when the Dragons lost 37-8 to the Canberra Raiders at WIN Stadium.
It was a match that had little 2020 implications for a St George Illawarra outfit set to miss out on the finals, but it's a huge clash for a bus load of Ramsey faithful who made the trip.
