After an agonising three-year wait, the family of murdered NSW Riverina woman Allecha Boyd can finally lay her to rest following an autopsy that confirmed human remains recently uncovered are hers.
NSW Police confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the body found in Lester State Forest was definitely that of the murdered Wagga Wagga woman.
On December 9, investigators revealed that the man convicted of killing her led police to the site where her remains had been buried.
In February 2020, Samuel John Shephard was sentenced to 27 years' jail for Allecha's murder and drug offences, with a non-parole period of 20 years and eight months.
Allecha was just 27 years old when she was killed. Her loved ones have been waiting more than 1216 days to be able to lay her to rest.
In 2017, detectives from the Riverina Police District established Strike Force Amias to investigate the circumstances surrounding her suspicious disappearance and suspected murder.
MORE TO COME.
