But this time they came face to face with what Adam believes was a brown snake ready to attack.
"As we were going along, a snake started crossing the track and met us at the middle," Mr Piech said.
"My daughter jumped off her bike and screamed. It was scary."
This was the first real time that he or his daughter had found themselves in this type of situation.
That's when his fatherly instincts took over.
"I didn't see the snake until she'd already come off her bike, but I grabbed her and pulled her out of the way as quick as possible," he said.
"The snake was sitting upright and hissing. It was very aggressive.
"It had a bit of a snap and we just backed off and let it calm down."
He shared his experience in the hope of making other people aware during the summer school holidays.
"It's not something I think about when I go out to places like that," he said.
"I thought it might make people wary of it in case they are out somewhere and there is a risk of being snakes around."
Despite the scare, he won't be shying away from heading back to Gosling Creek though.
"I think it could've happened anywhere," he said.
"We like to get outdoors and it's not really in our control where a snake is.

"We won't be avoiding the area but we'll be keeping an eye out."
