And at Kennerson Park, the box three starter Polly Wilson was too good for the eight-dog field, while his other starter - number one Millie May - was a bit behind the mark finishing in seventh.

Steadman said he was pleased with the performance from both of his dogs.

"I was very pleased with them. They're only young dogs and I thought whatever they do today, they'll improve, so I'm very happy with them," he said.

"I'll take [Polly Wilson] along easy, bring her back to Bathurst and see if she keeps on improving, go from there.

"These two are the first two in the litter to race and I'm not quite sure how they rest of them are going. They might be scattered around a bit."

Polly Wilson jumped well from the boxes once the bunny started rolling, but so did Betty Pepper and the two fought for the lead in the back straight, before the Steadman chance begun to pull away coming into the turn.

And after taking the lead, Polly Wilson didn't look back, as she stormed home to win her first ever race in her maiden start.

She finished a margin ahead of Zipping Lockett in second, with Hardaway Ally taking home the final placing in third.

Londonderry trainer Darren Sultana also had a successful outing, picking up two wins at the meeting.

In race four on Monday, Cudal's Dennis Barnes chalked up a winner with impressive black bitch Nangar Opal.

Victory in the Bathurst RSL Soldiers Saddle Heat is Nangar Opal's third in four starts.

Forest Reefs trainer Shaun Kirby also enjoyed win in a Soldiers Saddle heat with Tradie's Mate, the veteran dog by My Bro Fabio and out of Tycoon Polar showing great pace late to bring up the win.
