The Goal Diggers were pushed all the way in a 4-1 win over newcomers Team Platypus.
Scores were locked at nil-all after the first quarter and 1-all at the main break.
Three unanswered goals in the third quarter was the difference for Goal Diggers as Sam Martin bagged a double and Jo Morrison scored a strong goal.
KWS 1sts scored the most decisive win of the round with a 7-1 victory over Squids.
The students were leading 5-0 at the main break off the back of a treble from Zac Lewis. Lucinda Wright bagged Squids' only goal of the match.
All the other open matches delivered some tight tussles with Flounders downing Team Platypus 6-3 and Jets accounting for Phar Laps by the same margin.
Cobras were pushed all the way in their 6-5 win over KWS 2nds.
The two sides were locked at 2-all at the main break and 4-all after three quarters.
Angus Forsyth nailed two goals for Cobras in the final period to secure the win.
There were clear winners in the intermediate matches with KWS Barracudas downing KWS Wahoos 7-3, KWS Unagi toppling KWS Orcas 8-3 and KWS Hammerheads beating Orange Water Dragons Inters 10-0.
In the junior matches, Orange Water Dragons Under 13s beat Wave Riders 10-0 and KWS Kraken and KWS Hydra played out an 8-all draw.
