After almost a decade performing the Vice-Chancellor duties, Professor Vann said that it had been an honour and a privilege to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of Charles Sturt University.

"I was attracted to the University because of its leadership and track record in professional, regional, Indigenous and online education, and responsible environmental stewardship," he said.

"Charles Sturt University has amazing people who are absolutely dedicated to their work and their communities.

"I am very proud to have worked with them to help the University further its aims.

"2020 has been a very disruptive year for everyone and after a period of reflection during sabbatical I believe it is the right time to move on to the next phase of my life.

"I wish the University, its staff and students every success into the future."

With a number of changes including staffing levels and course inclusions occurring across multiple CSU campuses, Chancellor Dr Michele Allan said she thanked Professor Vann for his leadership.

"Andy led the University through a period of incredible growth, and through some challenging times," she said.

"I want to thank him for his dedication to the University and to regional Australia."

Professor Vann's term was due to end in December 2021 and he had been on sabbatical and leave since June 2020.

Professor John Germov has been appointed as Acting Vice-Chancellor while the recruitment process for the next Vice-Chancellor continues.
