With a growing demand for specialist treatment and state of the art facilities, Dudley Private Hospital said it responded to requests from several local cardiologists who felt the addition of a cardiac catheterisation - known as the "cardiac cath lab" was essential in the Central West.
The $4 million lab was opened by the chief operating officer for Ramsay Health, Danny Sims.
"It's wonderful to be back in Orange," said Mr Sims.
"I'm very exited for the expansion and the additional services being provided by Dudley Private Hospital, a hospital I've grown very fond of over the years.
"I think this development really takes it to a new level - to be able to introduce cardiac services to Orange from a private health insurance perspective, as well as an intensive care unit where patients and doctors will have that added security of a high level of care for patients if they need that."
Cardiac catheterisation is a procedure used to diagnose and treat certain cardiovascular conditions.
During cardiac catheterisation, a long thin tube called a catheter is inserted in an artery or vein in the patient's groin, neck or arm and threaded through blood vessels to the heart.
"There is a growing need and increased demand for these services in the region and this was an opportunity to build the facilities to service the community," said Dudley Private Hospital's CEO Paul McKenna.
"The local cardiologists requested that we install identical state of the art equipment used at the Orange Base Hospital, to provide consistency in a time of high pressure.
"It also increases the capability of our hospital and clinical safety and support throughout the hospital for our more acute patients."
Mr McKenna said the hospital was going on a recruitment drive.
"Increasing the specialisation of clinical skills of nurses across the hospital, these new units also provide an opportunity to increase our highly qualified staff," he said.
Dudley Private Hospital is a 62-bed medical, surgical facility with dedicated mental health and rehabilitation wards.
