Bill Alexander Parianos, 53, of Icely Road, appeared before magistrate David Day for assaulting a woman and intimidating her with 29 phone calls on June 1.

"Mr Parianos is highly thought of in the community," Mr Day said after reading his references.

According to information supplied to the court, Parianos grabbed the woman's shoulder when she turned away while he was talking.

Seeing how angry he was she got scared and punched him in the mouth. She then went into a building and he called her 29 times.

Mr Day said Parianos had previous assault convictions.

Mr day gave him a 12-month community correction order for the intimidation with 20 hours of community service and he fined him $220 for the assault.
