Teams only have two games to stake their finals claim in this season's competition and after Bulls went down to Rugby Union in their first clash they're saying 'Why not?' to trying something new.

Centennials may likely shake up their batting and bowling order and change their tactical approach for the game, hoping to utilise their strengths much better than how they've done so in the past.

One of those strong elements of the Bulls lineup this year, Blake Aubin, said something had to be done for Friday's game to give the team the satisfaction that they explored every avenue possible.

And if it fails? At least they tried to shake it up.

"With the new format of the cup we have to win. We've looked at a couple of things, and particularly at the totals we've been getting over the last two seasons in the cup, and feel we need to change up things in this game," he said.

"Those changes are either going to go really well or not well at all. There's a couple of new ideas and it might be a bit of a different look for us.

"We've been getting totals around 120 and that's just not good enough in this competition because it's a pretty high standard. We know it'll be tough against Cavs, who are in red hot form, so it's a steep hill but in that short space of time anything can happen. We're really looking forward to it."

While Aubin didn't delve into what those changes would likely be for the Bulls there is one new element to the team's Twenty20 arsenal: Daniel Bryant.

The recent addition from the south coast's first grade competition scored a quick fire 19 in Saturday's Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket clash when he was asked to cut loose.

Aubin hopes he gets more time in the sun this Friday.

"He'll give us a couple of different options with the bat and with the ball. He'll be in our new setup," he said.

"He seems like a very attacking batsman who hits the ball very hard. That could be good to watch if he gets going.

"He had a quick 20 runs on the weekend and bowled quite well too. He hasn't played this format in a while but I think it will suit his style."

Aubin said Bulls will be underdogs but that's not a position the team has ever felt uncomfortable with.

"If we can post a good score then that's a win for us, whether we actually win the game or not, and then we can hope to take that to the longer format. But I definitely think that we can win this game," he said.

"We know the odds aren't in our favour. Their top wicket taker for the season [Hugh Britton], I remember facing him at George Park earlier in the season and he was bowling very well. Hopefully our plans come together."
