The St George Illawarra Dragons and South Sydney Rabbitohs will play their fourth successive Charity Shield pre-season battle in Mudgee next year.
The annual match has been confirmed for Saturday, February 27 at the Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex.
Tickets for the 2021 Charity Shield will go on sale next month at 123tix.com.au and, barring any restriction issues, there is expected to be a huge amount of interest given the match will be the final installment of the four-year-long partnership between the Mid-Western Regional Council, the Dragons and Rabbitohs.
The date of that fixture is yet to be confirmed.
"We think it's important that NRL clubs give back to the regional areas that produce so many great players for our game," Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly said.
"The Charity Shield is a great opportunity for us to do just that, as well as raise money and awareness for the wonderful programs run by Souths Cares."
Mid-Western mayor, Des Kennedy, said the Shield match will again be a hit and will leave a lasting impact.
"This partnership has been a huge success for our region, from a social and recreational standpoint as well as economically, and I'd like to thank the clubs for their ongoing commitment to bringing the game to Mudgee," he said.
South Sydney has won all three previous Charity Shield rounds held at Mudgee.
It was 22-18 in 2018, 36-24 last year, and 26-12 earlier this year.
