However that figure doesn't include any change since the rains on Sunday and Monday.

It has been two and a half years since the combined total was that high.

Spring Creek Dam, Lake Canobolas and Gosling Creek Dam were all at 100 per cent capacity when the most recent reading was taken, on November 20.

Suma Park Dam was at 56.93 percent capacity on the same day, about six metres below the spillway.

When capacity at all dams is full, Suma Park holds about 77 percent of the city's water, with Spring Creek accounting for 18 percent of what's left.

The last few percentage points are split between Gosling Creek and Lake Canobolas.

For the week ending November 12, water consumption was at 141 litres per person a day.

Water consumption was up week-on-week by nearly 10 percent at the most recent reading, November 19, to 154 litres per person per day.

In the week ending October 8 daily per person water usage dipped to 131 litres.

The rains on Monday were set to drop 10-20mm of water on Orange. By 2pm Monday 10.4mm had fallen.

The wettest day this month was November 13 (13mm).

"We're pleased by the weather outlook, which points to an El Nino," said mayor Reg Kidd.

"That means the better likelihood of wet weather over the coming months.

"That will be good news for the wider region to further assist with the recovery from the drought.

"As temperatures start to rise, Orange start will start to draw on more water so everyone does need to continue to be careful."

Cr Kidd said that following rains "local gardens will have had a good soaking already. People won't be needing to water their gardens for a few days now".

Temperatures are set to rise throughout the week.

Thursday's maximum is forecast to be 27C, climbing to 29C on Friday.

Saturday is tipped to hit 31C while Sunday is set to be a belter with a top of 34C.

There is a 40 percent chance of rain on Tuesday, dropping to five percent on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The wettest November on record was 2005, when 174mm fell.

The driest was in 2012, when just 16.6mm dropped across the month.
