Or bats.
Or both.
So it was at the city's premier sporting oval Wade Park early Monday morning, when federal member Andrew Gee, mayor Reg Kidd and councillor Jason Hamling came to unveil $100,000 worth of new flip-up seating.
Rugby balls were supplied by Mr Gee's staff, but it was felt that with the season drifting from the end of footy into cricket, that a six-stitcher and a Gray Nicolls plank of willow would better suit the times.
Next thing you knew Mr Gee had reappeared with an old cricket ball, and was explaining the grip and style of leg spinner Richie Benaud.
Cr Kidd, meanwhile, was reminiscing about a batsmen who once clubbed a ball across Peisley Street and into a passing train.
Cr Jason Hamling described himself as a spin bowler.
Questioned as to whether his spinning balls landed on the pitch, Cr Hamling invited the Central Western Daily out into the middle.
Mr Gee also came armed with red ribbon and scissors, and after a moment's discussion about where to tie the ribbon, the scene was set.
It's all about bums on seats, and the bums sitting on the 698 new flip-up seats should be very comfortable during long stretches over summer.
The old seats, from the Sydney Cricket Ground, have been gifted to local sporting clubs including Orange City Rugby Club, Orange City Bowling Club, Orange and District Cricket Association, Orange and District Pistol Club and Cowra Rugby Club.
"As the nurturing ground for some of our country's best athletes, this facility goes to the heart and soul of the Orange community," Mr Gee said.
"It also plays host to legendary events such as the Blowes Cup.
"A great game of footy or cricket will be made even better thanks to this fantastic new seating."
Cr Kidd said: "The modern, flip-up seating is so much more convenient for both spectators and cleaners to move in-between seats."
