The 24-year-old New Zealand citizen has been in custody since the day of the offence when he appeared before magistrate David Day in Orange Local Court.
The man was facing charges for a domestic violence assault causing actual bodily harm, property damage and contravening an apprehended violence order on August 17. He is not named to protect the identity of the victim.
Solicitor Gerry Stapleton said the man came to Australia when he was a teenager and has worked as a shearer around Orange and the Central West but could face being sent back to New Zealand.
"That's not a matter that the court can take into account," Mr Day said.

According to police facts, the man yelled and shoved at the woman when they were in bed at 4.30am on August 17, and when she went to get up he swung his leg over kicking her in the nose causing it to bleed.
He got up and yelled at her and she slipped into a child's cot that was attached to the bed. He then struck her in the face.
The victim called the police but before they arrived the man punched a hole in a door. He said he didn't mean to kick her in the head but acknowledged he shouldn't have been at the house.
Mr Day sentenced the man to 15 months in jail with with a nine-month non-parole period from August 17 to May 16, 2021. He said it was concerning that a young child was present and saw the woman with a bleeding nose.
