Dwayne John Ah-See was arrested in scrub near Wentworth Falls by officers assisted by helicopters and police dogs in October after he was allegedly involved in a high-speed pursuit reaching 180km/h in an 80km/h on the Great Western Highway
The 31-year-old from Gardiner Road was already facing charges dating from July 7 for driving while disqualified when the dramatic arrest was made.
Ah-See was unrepresented but agreed to go ahead with sentencing for the July driving offence when he appeared an via audio visual link before magistrate David Day in Orange Local Court on Tuesday.
According to information submitted to the court, Ah-See had two children in the car at 1.35pm while he was driving east on Bundarra Crescent on July 7. However, he cut the corner while turning right on to Maroo Road and almost crashed into a police vehicle. As a result he was stopped in Kurim Avenue.
A check revealed his driver's licence had been disqualified from August 2016 until August 29, 2024.
At the time, Ah-See was also facing two other driving while disqualified charges from April 11 and 27.
According to the information tended to the court, Ah-See had a terrible criminal and driving history, which affected his sentence.
Mr Day sentenced Ah-See to three months in full-time jail and he disqualified his driver's licence for 12 months for the July offence.
Mr Day said the disqualification will not start until Ah-See is released. The jail sentence for the disqualified driving will end on February 9, 2021.
Ah-See is next to appear in Katoomba Local Court in relation to the pursuit in December.
