The green and golds stalwart has joined the ranks of rugby league pundits in favour of the proposed merger, suggesting the move needs to be made 'sooner rather than later' in order to give the competition a much-needed boost.
And it's not as if Jones dislikes Group 10 as it is, he just thinks both regions would benefit from an overhaul.
"I think it would make the footy a lot more competitive out here," Jones said.
"It wouldn't be the worst thing if Group 10 was to stay how it is but to bring the groups together would create a powerhouse of a competition."
From a player's perspective, Jones is champing at the bit to mix it up with the likes of Dubbo CYMS as he's keen to find out what the superior group is.
"You always hear people say Group 11's tougher while Group 10 might be a bit more skillful," he said.
"But, you never really find out until you play each other week after week.
"It's not my call to make but I think it would bring something new and exciting to footy out here."
Jones also thinks the grouping together of some of the small-town teams would give them a boost.
"I think it's a good idea to put them against each other," he said.
"You obviously still want them (smaller clubs) to exist. I know a few years ago Cowra was in danger of folding and we want all those sides to still be in the competition."
Regardless of who clubs end up playing against, Jones is gearing up for a season on the committee and simply said it was a job that needed doing.
"Not many people want to be on committees these days," he said.
"Someone's got to do it so we got some new blokes in. In the past, players haven't really had that much of an impact with the committee.
"We've let them make a lot of decisions for us and do all the work. It's about time some of us stood up and did it for ourselves."
Along with Jones, Joe Duffy, Lachie Munro and Josh Piper are set to take on roles on the committee as returning president Dom Maley hopes to take an all-hands-on-deck approach throughout 2021.
Led by Daniel Mortimer, Orange CYMS is expected to start its pre-season in early December
