Andrew Whitmore, who also goes by the surname Spice, was given the custodial sentence for taking part in eight counts of dishonesty during the spending spree on March 22 and 23.
The sentence also included a charge of having possession of a stolen .222 rifle that had been taken from a property at 12 Mile in 2019, for stealing $405.60 in cash and intimidating a woman.
According to a summary of the March offences, the 24-year-old of Prince Street, said he was given the debit card by a woman who allegedly stole her employers wallet.
Whitmore made $634.55 worth of purchases with the card between 12.01am on March 22 and 8.30am on March 23. He used the card's pay Dwave function to buy items from the 7/Eleven, BP petrol station, Orange Cellars, Woolworths, BP North Orange, North Orange Woolworths. He visited some of those businesses more than once.
He was also charged with being in possession of an unauthorised firearm.
On April 9, Whitmore hid a .222 bolt action rifle under the footbridge at Parkes Railway Station.
He retrieved the stolen weapon about 10.30pm and stored it at an address in Hill Street, Parkes, where police found it on April 17.
CCTV showed Whitmore carrying the rifle on Welcome Street, between the railway station and McDonalds.
He was arrested on April 17 when he presented himself to Orange Police Station.
Whitmore was on bail for that offence when he stole $405.60 in cash from a house in Orange on May 24.
Whitmore stole the change tin that contained the cash after the victim left their house to report him to police following an argument.
There's absolutely no reason for him to have that weapon.
- Magistrate David Day
The police found him at 11.40pm that night hiding under a mattress in a house in Adina Crescent.
The cash tin was also recovered.
"I did it just to get back at him for what he'd just done," Whitmore said.
While in custody, Whitmore admitted to using the stolen card in March but said he didn't think the victim would miss the money.
The offending also put Whitmore in breach of a community correction order he had been given for recklessly damaging a car windscreen in January last year.
When he appeared in court, magistrate David Day revoked the CCO and resentenced him to a new two-year CCO.
Whitmore's custodial sentence was by way of a 12-month intensive correction order that will be served in the community. However, he will be subject to electronic monitoring, he will have to abstain from drugs and take part in rehabilitation and treatment.
He was also convicted without further penalty for failing to appear in Orange Local Court on June 22.
"There's absolutely no reason for him to have that weapon," Mr Day said.
"The offending is aggravated by his criminal antecedence, which unfortunately for a man of his age is quite extensive."
