Recycled glass, plastics and other waste should be used to make future roads in Orange, a councillor has said.
Cr Stephen Nugent will ask council at its next meeting on Tuesday night to use recycled materials in making roads, footpaths and cycle paths.
"Consistent with its Save Our Recycling campaign, Local Government NSW is calling for increased local and state government procurement of recycled goods made in NSW, to address the burden posed by waste and recycling on local government," he said.
Cr Nugent said a project between LGNSW and Sydney University aimed to assist councils to use recycled materials for roads, cycle paths and footpaths.
He will call for staff to prepare a report on how they could adopt the methods.
Cr Nugent said it could also create jobs. He will also ask that the Central West NSW Joint Organisation research the project.
