Tony Jay Vermeulen, 32, of Clinton Street, was unrepresented when he came before magistrate David Day.
Vermeulen said he attended the Traffic Offenders Intervention Program and described it as an eye opener.
According to police, officers saw a Holden Commodore sedan do a burnout at the intersection in Glenroi at 4.50pm on April 19.
The P2 driver was stopped for testing and returned a positive result for methamphetamine so was taken to Orange Police Station for secondary testing.
Vermeulen said he smoked "ice" two days earlier.
Mr Day convicted him for driving with an illicit drug in his system and disqualified him from driving for six months.
