The meeting was meant to coincide with the Bathurst 1000 but despite the Great Race being pushed back a week the 12-race greyhound meeting remained on the same day.
Sceptre's win at the meeting was the two-year-old black dog's fourth career win from 12 starts and a second win at Bathurst in three starts.
Sceptre jumped well from the box and was running well behind the leader, June Twenty Six ($23), before he took the front along the back straight and didn't look back, storming home to win comfortably.
The Amanda Ginn-trained dog finished three and a half metres ahead of the Raymond Thomas-trained Two One Parking ($9) in second and four metres ahead of Christopher Cathcart-trained June Twenty Six in third.
Bathurst Greyhound Racing track manager Jason Lyne said Sceptre, who started from box eight, was expected to perform well from the wide box.
"Sceptre, he had been coming from inside draws in his past few starts," he explained.
"He's a dog destined for the outside box and he just used his box perfectly.
"He stayed out of trouble and went to the front down the back straight and they couldn't catch him.
"He used his box. The eight can be a tricky box at 450 metres in Bathurst, but he's a dog destined from a wide draw."
The Sceptre team was award $2000 for the win, followed by $460 for Two One Parking and $350 for June Twenty Six.
Ginn carried on her good form into the next race - the Good Luck Good Odds Harada Tonight (450 metres) - with her two-year-old black dog Satirical ($3) finishing first, two metres ahead of favourite Torana One ($2.80) in second and three and a half metres ahead of Winlock Sienna ($16) in third.
