The Royal Far West Board and staff wish to pay our deepest regards and respect to the family and friends of our beloved Director Peter Veenstra OAM.
Joining our Board in 2013, Peter ("PV") was a wealth of knowledge and inspiration, caring deeply about country kids and families, our staff and volunteers and also, the generous people of Manly.
His level-headed, warm and embracing input was deeply valued by our charity and all the rural families who had the good fortune to meet him while staying at Royal Far West.
PV and his lovely wife Lida were wonderful ambassadors for our kids and families.
They would stay in our Drummond House family accommodation when attending our meetings in Manly, and I'd often see Peter chatting with the families, and then sharing their concerns (and praises) back to the Board.
Peter was also a big supporter of our staff and would regularly ring me to acknowledge their achievements and show concern for their wellbeing.
An absolute gentleman, Peter truly brought a slice of the country to Manly.
Vale Peter. You will be missed, but you will remain with us forever.
Lindsay Cane AM, CEO, Royal Far West
