Eight months. That's how long Orange has waited for the next bite of an iconic Bunnings sausage in bread for the breakfast of champions on a weekend.

On Saturday, they finally returned to Orange as snags were thrown on the barbeques across the state at 7am as franchises all around NSW reinstated the fundraisers for community groups, restoring the great Australian fundraiser.
It wasn't quite like a pre-COVID sausage sizzle - but yet again what is the same as nine months ago? - all the servers and cooks wore masks, hand sanitiser was at the entrance, and social distancing was enforced.
Canobolas Lions Club of Orange were the first group to have a crack at sizzling snags on Saturday, and member John Chilcott said it was great to have them back.
"Bloody oath, it's terrific to be back", he said.
Bunnings barbecues are often a lifeline for charities and sporting clubs throughout the year, and Mr Chilcott said "everything" Canobolas Lions did had been affected.
"Every way we were raising money suddenly stopped," he said.
"Bunnings have organised the whole thing so it's COVID-compliant, socially distant and we have to clean every hour, on the hour.
"We've got an extra body, before it was only four but now it has to be five."
He said the early morning had been quiet, which had worked in their favour as the volunteers wrapped their heads around the new practicalities of a post-COVID sizzle.
"We've been able to work out what's right and what's needing to be changed or done differently," he said.
And the sacred snags themselves? Are they are good as you remembered?
"I had my first one about half an hour ago," Mr Chilcott said. "It tasted beautiful."
