Matthew Anthony Tadros, 26, of Terry Turner Drive, was driving west along the Northern Distributor Road at 1.05am when his driving drew the attention of police.
While swerving, Tadros drove over the cat's-eye reflectors that separated the lanes and he was stopped in Burrendong Way for a breath test.
Solicitor Andrew Kelly said he was driving with his brother in the passenger seat to his parent's house, which was five kilometres from his home.
Tadros returned a high-range reading of 0.159 and said he drank seven bottles of full-strength beer after 7.30pm.
Magistrate David Day fined him $880, disqualified his driver's licence for six months and ordered him to have an interlock device fitted to his car for 24 months.
