According to police, the 49-year-old man threatened a woman during an argument in her home in Orange on July 12 and he said, "I will run you through with a bow".
The man is not named to protect the identity of the victim.
As the argument continued, the man started pushing the victim up against a wall causing bruising on her upper arms.
The man again threatened the woman inside her home the next day and he pushed the fridge into her. The fridge hit her face causing a minor cut, bleeding and bruising to her left eye.
Police saw the cut and bruising on the woman and they arrested the man that night.
Police arrested the man that night and found a .22 Magnum bolt-action rifle located in his bedroom. He did not have a firearms licence and said the rifle was given to him by a mate.
The man spent eight days in custody before he was sentenced in Orange Local Court.
He was given several community corrections orders including 12 months for intimidation and not keeping a firearm safely, nine months for assault, and 15 months for another intimidation, the second assault and possession of a firearm.
The gun was forfeited and he will have to abstain from alcohol and drugs.
