Jumara Andrew Cutmore, 23, of Pridham Street, Cowra, knew the victim and demanded property from her when he entered her bedroom in Cowra while armed with a hammer just after midnight on September 21 last year.
According to police, the woman was listening to music when she heard a bang and Cutmore yelled out, "I'm back mother f***ers".
Cutmore and two other men then entered her bedroom and searched through the contents of her bedside table and handbag.
When they couldn't find what they were looking for Cutmore held the hammer to her right temple and said, "I'm gonna kill you s***, I'm not going to f***'n prison again."
The victim and her partner, who tried to talk Cutmore down, fled and phoned police.
Magistrate Elizabeth Ellis sentenced Cutomre to full-time jail back-dated to February 25.
Ms Ellis gave him a 15-month jail sentence with a nine-month non-parole period for entering a building with intent to commit an indictable offence, and she gave him a nine-month jail sentence for intimidation.
He could be eligible for parole on November 11, 2020.
Although Cutmore had been in custody since September 25 he was serving the balance of a parole period until February 25.
