A large screen will be set up on the wall of the Hive building with three rows of car parking spots allocated for about 100-200 people to watch a movie on Halloween night, Saturday October 31.
The Orange Open Air group is proposing to screen a yet-to-be-announced PG-rated movie at the event to be called Blood Orange. The event would also have food trucks and live music.
Orange Open Air has lodged an application with Orange City Council for $2000 toward running the event.
The application said it had already gained money from the Newcrest COVID-19 fund to buy projection and screen equipment.
It would be the first use of McNamara Street for community events with council to fund a makeover of the street under the FutureCity project.
The group is also planning events over three days around Valentine's Day next February including a movie screening with music, food and wine in the Southcourt area, film workshops at the Hive plus movie screenings at a vineyard and in Carcoar, Manildra and Millthorpe.
