Solicitor Charlotte Pascall said Trevor Crawford 56 of Jilba Street, spent 88 days in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and has since managed to remain sober since his return to the community.

"He's given $80 for the broken window," Miss Pascall said.

According to police, Crawford was outside an Amaroo Crescent house at 11.30am on February 21 when he smashed the window. The female resident had retreated inside after he accused her of taking his beer and she was in the room when he smashed the window.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Carl Smith said alcohol had been a monster for Crawford and police had taken him to the rehabilitation facility after he was arrested for this offence.

"He's generally a very nice person," Sergeant Smith said.

Magistrate Elizabeth Ellis congratulated Crawford on his sobriety.

"If you've been sober for that long give yourself a pat on the back," Ms Ellis said.

She convicted Crawford and gave him as 12-month community correction order with a requirement he abstain from alcohol.
