Keegan James Brooke, 28, of Botanic Way, appeared before magistrate Elizabeth Ellis in Orange Local Court on Monday.
"You had too much to drink and were a very nasty person," Ms Ellis said.
Brooke was drinking at the Ophir Tavern on September 13, 2019, when he was approached by two police officers at 11.10pm and they told him to leave after deeming him to be intoxicated.
Brooke had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech, he was belligerent, refused to leave, continued drinking and refused to give police his name or address.
He was given several opportunities before police told him he was under arrest.
Brooke then refused to walk to the door and had to be forced out and waved his arms around when police tried to handcuff him.
The police thought they would be hit so sprayed him with capsicum spray and he was given a "distractionary strike".
While on the ground Brooke said, "I'm going to f***ing kill you c***s."
"You were very difficult with police, they have a job to do. How would you feel if while you were doing your job someone came and assaulted you," Ms Ellis said.
Ms Ellis gave him a 12-month community corrections order for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and failing to leave a licence premises, and she convicted him without further penalty for failing to comply with a requirement under the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act.
She said Brooke had a limited criminal record and accepted his was highly regarded by his employer and family.
