For the most part, weddings are one of the best parts of life, but it was a bittersweet event on Saturday for Orange councillor Stephen Nugent.

His mum Val wed John Mavor on Saturday, with the two 86-year-olds tying the knot in Redland Bay in Queensland.
The catch - the border's still closed, meaning Mr Nugent had to watch the ceremony and reception online, with the 25-strong Orange contingent of the wedding holding a parallel event at the Uniting Church Hall in Anson Street.
"It was a special event with tears of joy - and some sadness about not being able to be there in person - at both ends," Mr Nugent said. He gave a speech for the bridge and groom from Orange, with an afternoon tea mirroring the Queensland events'.
