The 33-year-old Orange man, who is not named to protect the victim's identity, will serve his seven-month long custodial sentence in the community and it will include electronic monitoring, rehabilitation and that he abstain from drugs. The sentence is for assaulting his mother on March 31.
He was also given a two-year community correction order for intimidation. According to police, the man's mother gave him $10 when he visited her house and she asked him to leave.
When he refused to go she went to a friend's house and found the friend gardening in their front yard.
The mother was talking to her friend when the son arrived on a bicycle and yelled and swore at her.
"I'll get this pitchfork and hit you with it you old c***," he said.
He then pushed her shoulder causing her to stumble back.
