Joshua Garry Raymond Hancock, 38, of Icely Road, was charged with driving more than 45km/h over the speed limit and contravening a non-contact apprehended violence order because the protected person was in the front seat of the car.
According to police, Hancock sped past police in a Holden Commodore on Cargo Road at 2.21pm on May 13 and then officers conducted a u-turn and attempted to pull him over.
The police reached speeds of up to 200km/h in an attempt to catch up to Hancock but made up little ground and only caught glimpses of the Commodore. When he past Lockwood Road police estimated his speed as between 160 and 170km/h.
It's appalling driving on a road that's another Cabonne goat track, at least it's sealed.
- Magistrate David Day
However, police made up significant ground when Hancock became stuck behind two other vehicles.
Hancock slowed to 50km/h when entering Cargo and he stopped in the car park of the Cargo Inn where the police confronted him and found the child and protected person in the car.
Hancock also tested positive for cannabis and amphetamine for which he received a fine in the mail.
Magistrate David Day fined him $2000 and disqualified his driver's licence for six months for speeding and he placed him on a 12-month community correction order for contravening the AVO.
"His conduct to other road users in appalling," Mr Day said.
