Cr Tony Mileto will ask Tuesday night's Orange City Council meeting to approve public information sessions at the halfway point of the exhibition period.
Cr Mileto said it would apply to "significant projects and initiatives."
He said he been contacted by about 15 people who were seeking more information and timings on projects including development applications in recent years.
It has come up on numerous occasions to me.

Cr Mileto said the latest example was a re-zoning plan to allow retail shopping at the Bloomfield Medical Centre.
Council has received eight submissions and almost all oppose the plan over concerns it would impact trade in the CBD.
However, he said a public session could have given people more information about the size of the proposed development and when the exhibition period ended.
"They don't understand the different stages of it, what constitutes the size of the different shops going out there," he said.
Cr Mileto is proposing two public sessions on the same day to cater for people available to attend at lunchtime or about 5.30pm after work.
He said since joining council in 2017 he had noticed there was duplication of work for some staff.
Cr Mileto said the public information session would help streamline the process as the plan could be explained to all interested parties on the one day.
He said people often did not have enough time to read the full document being proposed which limited their ability and desire to lodge a submission.
"It has come up on numerous occasions to me," he said.
"People have said 'we are confused.' They want to put a submission in and want a better understanding of the issues involved.
"The halfway mark is a good point to have those discussions."
Cr Mileto said previous public forums on issues including water and affordable housing had been effective.
A staff comment said about 30-50 projects, outside DAs, were put on public exhibition annually.
"Council had started a series of information sessions late last year and earlier this year however COVID-19 hampered that initiative," it said.
