While Orange City Council has determined the month for the annual collection it has not confirmed the dates for rubbish pick-up.
Residents have been urged not to put waste out on their nature strips until close to the time for pick-ups to avoid previous incidents where rubbish cluttered areas outside homes around Orange.
Ratepayers are now being charged an annual fee of $11.35, regardless of whether they use the service, to have bulky waste collected from their nature strip.
Now is not the time to be leaving waste in front of your house.
- Cr Stephen Nugent, Orange City Council
The service was approved by Orange City Council in June.
A report to council said 85 per cent of respondents to a council survey backed the plan over other proposals for collecting the large waste from nature strips.
It is expected rubbish will be collected in three passes.
First for refrigerated bulky waste that requires degassing and can be recycled, the second for scrap steel that can be recycled and finally general bulky waste.
Council's Environmental Sustainability committee chair, Cr Stephen Nugent said had been consistent calls from the community for the collection to return.
"We're looking at organising the collection event so that more materials, such as steel and waste refrigerators containing gas, can be collected separately for recycling," he said.
"There'll be lots of publicity in the lead-up to the event, with much more detail about how it will all work," he said.
"It's important for residents to remember, that now is not the time to be leaving waste in front of your house.
"There are many forms of waste that can be taken to the Resource Recovery Centre for free. If the results of your Spring cleaning are still in working order, think about taking them to the Recycling Centre."
Earlier this year Cr Glenn Taylor said he had been contacted by residents who wanted the service reinstated after a lengthy absence.
"They want to reinstate the bulky goods pick-up, it's overwhelming and we should be responding to ratepayers' wants and needs," he said.
"Not everyone has access to a ute and it costs to take it to the tip."
Last time some residents did not comply with the advertised collection period and continued to leave waste at the kerb past the collection date which meant the mess was there for all to see during the Orange Wine Festival.
Council presented other options to ratepayers earlier this year which were passed over by ratepayers in favour of the general levy scheme.
One was to retain the current user-pays system where residents can order a collection of two cubic metres of bulky waste from their residence which would cost $220.25.
Another option was a new user-pays system where if at least 30 residents ordered a two cubic metre collection for the same time, the charge would be $82.50 each.
