Across the group, Newcreast Mining improved its safety results with no fatalities and life-changing injuries, and increased gold production to 2.2 million ounces.
Of that figure, Cadia's annual gold production was 843,338 ounces, which was eight per cent lower than the previous period. The mine's annual copper production was 96 thousand tonnes, and there was record for mined ore.
The earnings before interest and taxes was $1138 million, which was 20 per cent higher than the previous period.
An increase in revenue was driven by a 21 per cent higher gold price and higher volume of copper sales, which offset the lower volume of gold sales and the impact of a lower copper price.
During the financial year, Cadia also started stage one of the Cadia Expansion Project which, resulted in 400 new employees, including many from the region and people who chose to relocate to the area.
Work also started on the Cadia Molybdenum Plant, which will produce molybdenum, a silvery-white metal that can be drawn into a wire and is resistant to corrosion.
Cadia general manager Aaron Brannigan said this year has been like no other with challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Through dedication and careful planning Cadia has overcome many challenges to continue to operate as normally as possible," Mr Brannigan said.
"However, we also appreciate that we have been more fortunate than others in our community.
"While Cadia has continued to achieve its business goals this year, we have also turned our attention to increase our community support with the establishment of the Newcrest $20 million Community Support Fund."
The fund, is in addition to the financial support Cadia already provides, and was established to support the community through challenges associated with the pandemic.
To date, Cadia has supported the Orange360 Staycation Program, provided financial grants to businesses affected by COVID-19, and purchased computers for disadvantaged and immune-suppressed children at public schools.
Cadia has also supported the roll out of hand sanitising dispensers across all sporting and recreational precincts in the region prior to the return of winter sports, and continues to support Orange hospital.
"We have continued to support our local contracting partners this year by focusing on recruiting from our local regions," Mr Brannigan said.
"We will continue to look for opportunities to employ local as we progress the Cadia Expansion Project, into financial year 2021."
