Orange Regional Suicide Prevention Network chair Sharon Taylor said the support from the sporting teams has been good to get ahead of the big day.

"The network has reached out to the sporting teams in Orange to get on board, pick up some merchandise, banners, posters and information on how to help people," she said.

"We will also have tealight candles for people in the community to pick up and light to remember those who have lost their lives to suicide.

"Before COVID, we used to have face-to-face stalls but we're trying to work with sporting clubs to raise awareness about suicide and how to prevent it."

This year, R U OK? Day and World Suicide Prevention Day will land on the same day.

Ms Taylor added she has worked as a suicide prevention worker for four years after discovering the network.

"As R U OK? Day focuses around having meaningful conversations with people, this year will focus on following up on those conversations and checking up on those people" she said.

"The network is comprised of community members and service providers who focus on spreading the word about suicide prevention."
