Perry Oval's facilities block has won a stay of execution after Orange City Council deferred a recommendation to demolish it.
A report to council recommended demolition after an independent study said it would cost $122,000 to properly repair the building.
However, several councillors said Perry Oval should be retained for recreational use.
A $30,000 project to upgrade irrigation at the ground is also being planned.
Meanwhile has backed a masterplan for a Health and Innovation Precinct at Bloomfield after receiving community submissions.
Council also agreed to support diverting stormwater into the Duntryleague Golf Course into a private dam.
It would assist the golf club in watering the course.
Council also agreed to provide $12,000 to assist the running of a national bush poets competition as part of next February's Banjo Paterson festival.
And council will consider building a small public memorial to colleague Cr Mario Previtera who died this month.
