Snow covered the region's higher parts, notably Mount Canobolas, thanks to a low pressure trough that deepened overnight and brought more rain to already saturated parts of the state.
The forecast was for snow as low as 1100 metres, but snow did fall in Orange as well, which is just below the 900 metre mark.
Orange recorded just 4.4 millimetres of rain over the course of the weekend, but coupled with the incredibly chilly conditions snow eventuated on Sunday morning.
Orange reached a top of 4.8 degrees Celcius on Sunday just after 1pm, and even then the feels-like temperature was sub zero - a mark the city shivered through for the majority of Sunday.
The weekend's rainfall total lifts Orange's monthly sum for August to 19mm, and Orange's total water storage level has passed 34 per cent.
The total combined storage levels of both Suma Park Dam and Spring Creek Dam now sits at 34.18 per cent.
Orange is expected to reach a top of 11 degrees on Monday, before peaking with a top of 15 later in the week on Thursday.
