Butchers in Orange are still maintaining meat supplies with some sourcing their meat locally, which has prevented them from being affected by the reduction in output at Victorian abattoirs due to coronavirus measures.

There are regional butchers who source boxed meat from abattoirs in Victoria and may have supply interruptions due to availability and interstate transport issues.
However, Tablelands Premier Meats has a butcher shop in the Summer Centre at Orange and an abattoir near Canowindra while Farmgate Butchery in Prince Street gets 90 per cent of its meat from Cowra protecting them from those issues.
TPM owner Stephen Tamplin said he can assure customers of reliable ongoing fresh meat supply because the business is independent of saleyards and wholesaler pressure.
Mr Tamplin said the Orange butcher shop has been busy recently and he wanted to let people know that it is not short of meat and used its own animals and also provides processing for farmers in Orange, Cowra and Forbes.
"We do our own thing here from our own farm, we supply our own butchery, people can be assured that there's no need to panic buy," he said.
"We source local made from local farms and from our own farm."
Farmgate butchery owner Greg Pearce said 10 per cent of his produce is boxed meat that can come from anywhere and is more subject to travel or production issues but the rest came from Cowra.
"At this stage we are not having any trouble," Mr Pearce said.
"[Business] is busier than normal but it's not crazy."
