Central West Police District acting inspector Susan Mackenzie said officers checked on festival venues and licenced premises and other events throughout Orange over the weekend.

She said there were no breaches of coronavirus restrictions noticed.

Apart from maintaining social distancing requirements the venues were required to take the details of every person on site.

They also needed to have a COVID-safe plan.

This year's fire festival was smaller than the previous two years with the larger public events not held.

Orange360 general manager Caddie Marshall said venues had gone "above and beyond" to meet the social distancing requirements.

Meanwhile a new wine event was proposed as part of our next festival, the Orange Wine Festival.

The Orange Regional Vignerons Association submitted plans to Orange City Council to host an event to be known as Altitude on October 24.

However, it has since decided to postpone the launch until next year.

It would have involved about 200-250 guests visiting three wineries, Ross Hill Wines, Brangayne of Orange and Phillip Shaw Wines.

The application to council said the guests would be bussed from the CBD to Ross Hill Wines for the first leg of the event.

"Altitude is an Orange Wine Festival event telling the story of the Altitude of wine," it said.

"Patrons will walk through three vineyards tasting food and wine on the way.

"The event will finish at Phillip Shaw Winery with food, wine and entertainment."

Council's Infrastructure policy committee recommended the event be approved.

The City of Orange Traffic committee also recommended allowing guests at the event to walk across Pinnacle Road to go to the second winery, Brangayne.

It is proposed the wine festival will run throughout October.

The festival would also include the Orange Art Trail from October 3-25.

Patrons will be able to visit eight artists in their studios and workspaces.
