The number of registered vehicles in Orange has risen by 13.5 per cent in five years, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' latest snapshot of Orange released this week.
It shows we are buying far more light commercials with the numbers up 17 per cent in five years.
There are now 9.6 per cent more passengers cars than there were in Orange five years earlier.
Trucks and even motorbike numbers are also higher.
The big winner has been diesel-fuelled vehicles.
There has been an increase of 48.6 per cent from 2014 to 2019.
But LPG cars are on the nose though having dropped by 27.8 per cent in the same time.
The ABS Data by Region statistics, updated this week to 2019 figures, show 52,559 vehicles were registered in Orange last year.
That is nearly as much as the estimated population of 59,818 of the wider Orange region calculated by the ABS which includes surrounding towns.
The number of cars is up from 46,282 registered in Orange in 2014.
The ABS statistics also reveal the number of the people living in the region is fairly static.
It showed there were 83 less people living in the area in 2019 compared to the previous year.
However, there has been an increase of people moving to Orange from overseas.
It found 365 people arrived into the area from overseas though 166 departed leaving a gain of 199 people from overseas.
The figures also examined business and finance.
It found in 2019 there 11 people declared insolvent due to business while 66 became insolvent due to non-business financial situations.
Of those the most common, affecting 33 people who went broke, was due to excessive use of credit.
Unemployment or loss of income accounted for the next highest reason, which affected 20 people.
However, the number of insolvencies in Orange was at its lowest level in years.
The figures also revealed the number of businesses operating in Orange had increased by more than 450 in the five years to 2019. with the construction industry doing well with nearly 14 per cent more businesses.
