The commemoration of Korean Veterans' Day was held at the Orange cenotaph to remember those have fallen and returned.

Orange RSL sub-branch president Chris Colvin said a wreath was laid with Member for Calare Andrew Gee.

"This day, on July 27, is to commemorate those who didn't come back and those who did from the 'forgotten war'," he said.

"This is the first time I have commemorated the Korean War with the RSL.

"Due to COVID-19 we weren't able to hold a service, but at least we have been able to lay a wreath and say the ode as our tribute."

Mr Gee said it's vitally important that we never forget the men and women who served and sacrificed for Australia during the Korean War.

"Today, South Korea is a vibrant democracy and economy because men and women from Australia and other nations fought to keep it free," he said.

"The Australians served with distinction in Korea.

"We lost four local servicemen and we look back on their service with gratitude and pride."

More than 17,000 Australians from the army, navy and air force fought as part of the United Nations multinational force, with 339 Australians losing their lives including 43 listed as missing in action and 1,200 were wounded.

An armistice was signed on July 27, 1953 after two years of negotiations and Australian forces maintained a presence in Korea until 1957.
