The school purchased and installed the new awning that covers an area of the playground between the school and Kenna Hall, which is used both during and after school hours and as the school's bus assembly area.
The awning was purchased with the assistance of a $5000 Australian government Local Schools Community Fund.
Federal Member for Calare and Minister Regional Education Andrew Gee announced the completion of the project when he visited the school on Friday to give a talk on parliamentary life.
"The staff have done a great job in both the design and execution of the project, particularly under the restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The shelter will be used by the school community and can also be used in conjunction with Kenna Hall community events such as weddings and funerals."
Catherine McAuley principal Michael Croke said the school is looking forward to utilising the shelter when the school can once again have family days, school barbecues and other school activities.
"It caters for all weather conditions, providing a cool place to play out of the sun in the summer and a dry area for the wintry days," he said.
