The COVID-19 Artist Grant Program is for individual musicians, collaborations of musicians or groups who have experienced hardship from the ongoing crisis.
ORAF chair Tony Cheney (pictured right) said grant is still in its early stages but they are seeking initial expressions of interest.
"Our sub-committee comprising of Meg Simpson and David Shaw will assess each submission as they come through and then go back to those who best meet the criteria to obtain further detail of their proposal," he said.
"It is not a prescriptive process and will involve us assessing the merit of each applicant on a case by case basis.
"We anticipate there will be a wide range of people affected financially by the pandemic and lockdowns."
Applicants can choose from any genre of music and are eligible for up to $2,000 per proposal.
The musician will be assessed on their previous work, viability of realistic and achievable planning and affect of COVID-19 on their career and practice.
The arts foundation will also facilitate a performance venue, whether it be the Orange Regional Conservatorium, Orange Civic Theatre foyer or even shop fronts, cafes or halls around Orange to develop and profile their work.
The funding from the foundation highlights the importance of the arts and the contribution of artists to the revitalisation and wellbeing of the community.
Mr Cheney added there is no specific closing date and the foundation will continue the program until funding is exhausted.
"It is important however that applicants live and work in the Orange region and there is no age limit," he said.
"We feel it is essential to support and help the arts and musicians during the pandemic."
Musicians who are receiving the Jobkeeper allowance or a grant from the ORAF which has not been completed or acquitted are not eligible to apply.
