"It's totally new for me, I've been home brewing for a couple of years and I thought I'd take the opportunity to have a go," Mr Mogford said.

"I've got good back up from the previous owner and people from the franchise, and I've got a couple of good offsiders who have been so helpful."

Mr Mogfod said although COVID-19 has been challenge for many businesses, people are still home brewing and distilling spirits due to more people being home more often as well as the cost factor.

He said the business also supplies materials for bottling preserves and smoking meat.

Mr Mogford is also hoping to expand and offer a face-to-face home-brewing course on September 12 and a cheese-making course in October.

The bistro at the Victoria Hotel has re-opened for lunch and dinner after closing for a month due to unforeseen circumstances.

The hotel's new licensee Craig Wright said the hotel has taken over the running of the bistro for the time being until a new bistro manager is found.

It is serving lunch from 12pm to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays with various themes such as chicken schnitzel Wednesday, Thursday rump steak and Friday pizza.

"We leased it out, this time we've decided to take it on ourselves," Mr Wright said.

Mr Wright has worked at the hotel for the last five years and has worked in the industry for 15 years before becoming the hotel's licencee a month ago.

The recent increase in COVID-19 cases has resulted in venues having to re-tighten restrictions which has led the Victoria Hotel to also temporarily cancel its live music and it cannot accept any more than 10 people in a group.

A class of Certificate III Business students have become the first to graduate using VERTO's online platform Cloud Assess in a face-to-face training environment in Orange.

While hundreds of students engage with the platform at home or work, this was the first cohort to use Cloud Assess in a training classroom.

VERTO trainer Lanny Mackenzie said the platform has allowed the students to complete training and assessments online, moving away from paper-based learning to develop crucial skills for the modern workplace.

"One gentleman had never touched a computer in his entire life, but the other students rallied around him and you could see his confidence grow," Ms McKenzie said.

"It was great to see the class support each other and strive to complete the certificate - as a trainer that was very fulfilling to see."

"The entire class showed great commitment from day one and through friendship and their support for one another they were all successful in graduating."
