Odeon 5 Cinemas reopened on Thursday for the first time since March, with nine films on offer - two of which are children's movies Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs and Sam Sam.

Odeon 5 manager Helen McBurnie, standing in a pile of popcorn which had been spilt by the first children's movie screening, said it was great to be back but restrictions would take some getting used to.

"It is good to be back, kids movies you can't help [the mess]," she said.

"We've had a few teething problems with people getting used to the new normal, they're not cleaning their hands when they come in, we've got screens in place and they stand to the side.

"We've had to update the IT side as well and we've had a few issues with that but we'll get there."

The cinema also has a new machine used to sanitise cinemas, used in each cinema twice a day, which has been nicknamed the Ghostbusters machine.

Social distancing measures have also been put in place.

She said there weren't any blockbusters on show, but they were trying to find as many new films as possible.

"People seem pretty happy to be back," she said.

People are encouraged to book tickets online, and to stay home if they're sick.
