The 63-year-old man allegedly refused a roadside breath test at the scene, but after returning to Cowra Police Station police said he returned an alleged reading of 0.148.

He was charged with a mid-range PCA and is due to appear in Cowra Court on August 19.

He was one of several people charged in the western region in the past 48 hours.

A 37-year-old man was charged with high range drink driving at about 3.20am on Monday, and allegedly returned a reading of 0.196.

He was given a future court attendance notice for high-range PCA and is due to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 23 September 2020. His licence was also suspended.

That incident came after a woman was charged just before 7pm on Sunday night.

Emergency services responded to a car which had struck a pole, with the 59-year-old woman subjected to a roadside breath test, where she allegedly returned a reading of 0.153.

Another man allegedly blew 0.190 on Goodooga Road, Brewarinna at 11.40pm on Monday.

Western Region Traffic Tactician, Acting Insp Kelly Wixx, said it is extremely disappointing that drivers are drinking and getting behind the wheel.

"We are disappointed to see drivers making poor choices that put everyone on the road at risk," A/Insp Wixx said.

"Our message is simple - don't drink and drive, we are out in force and will continue to target drink driving offences throughout the Region and you will be caught."
