The data gathered builds a picture of agricultural land use, livestock numbers and assists in monitoring flocks and herds for emergency animal diseases.
Emergency Management business partner Steve Eastwood said reporting livestock figures can be confronting.
"We understand circumstances change over a 12 month period and after a few hard years," he said.
"Especially when landholders have destocked due to drought, fire or flood.
"We're urging landholders to complete the annual return online, because that's the quickest way to ensure we can respond swiftly and accurately when needed."
The return is a statutory requirement and should be lodged by no later than August 31.
