If you told Mitch Britt and Ben Gosper at the end of May that they would be playing for the Orange Barbarians in the winter of 2020, they would have told you to wake up to yourself.

But, after a wild turn of events over the last three months, the two veterans will return to the club they captained in 2019 as they fell one win short of a Wallerawang Landscaping Cup premiership.
The duo - along with Ed Morrish - was set to play for Orange CYMS this season and after Group 10 was cancelled, they planned to join the short-lived Raiders' outfit and after that option was also swept out from under them, they were left with an opportunity to return to their old stomping ground.
While they won't coach the side in 2020, skipper Jake Kelly says the return of Gosper, Britt and Morrish boosts his side's premiership chances tremendously.
"It's going to be good having them back especially in such a short season... they'll make a big impact," Kelly said.
The additions to the side are timely for Kelly as he's had several players pull the pin on the season due to the circumstances surrounding the 2020 campaign.
"Before COVID-19 we had plenty of players," he said.
"Everyone was really keen but it's been a bit of a debacle since then and once they heard Group 10 was cancelled, they didn't think our competition would be going through either.
"I was in the same boat to be honest... I wasn't sure if we were going to go ahead."
It seems strange to think that this year's Mid-west Cup is going to be a more competitive one than last season and Kelly thinks that despite everything that's gone on, the tournament will be as enticing as ever in 2020.
"There's a couple more teams this year and it's just going to be a good bit of fun," he said.
"We're more in it now to have fun than we have been before but we still want to do well. We're just happy the footy's being played and we've got the opportunity to get out there with out mates."
The competition is set to commence on Saturday July 18 and Barbarians will visit the same venue where they had a premiership snatched off them as a trip to Diggings Oval to face the CSU Mungoes is slated for the opening round.
Kurt Beahan's United Warriors is the other Orange side and they will enjoy a first-up bye according to Beahan, has its negative and positive implications.
"It's good because we get extra time to prepare but will also make it tough when we play that first game... just because everyone's already played a game," he said.
"That first 20 minutes in that first game is going to be tough."
In other round one clashes, Kandos will face Cargo while Lithgow will clash with Oberon.
