Finding plastic-free alternative products this July may a tough ask for most.
But at the Grocer and Co Organics, owner Madeline Schmidt said they have a range of products to help those tackling the transition this Plastic Free July.
"We have bags, lunch containers, drinking straws and bees wax wraps that can be used instead of plastic products," she said.
"We have built up a collection of sustainable products and also have a range of local olive oil, teas and spices that people can fill up in their own clean jars.
"We look to source our products from local and Australian owned businesses."
Ms Schmidt thinks Plastic Free July is great initiative for people in the community to participate in.
"I think it's fabulous and we should do it every month," she said.
"It gets people thinking about products that are wasteful and where their products are sourced.
"During COVID-19, we had a few of the same people come into the store to stock up on products."
Ms Schmidt also added the store has a range of other plastic-free items that can be used day-to-day.
"To cut down on waste, we have beauty products including solid shampoo and conditioner and organic cotton face cloths," she said.
"The shampoo bars that we have may be considered costly, but when you look at the use amount it lasts a bit longer that regular shampoo bottle products."
The Agrestic Grocer owner Beau Baddock said they reuse and recycle cardboard boxes to cut down on waste.
"Most suppliers use a cardboard base and to minimise the waste we use the beer and wine boxes in the shop and for customers to carry their shopping," he said.
"We want to minimise our landfill and recycle when we can and use biodegradable products including bags and coffee cups."
Mr Baddock said the shop offers a selection of food products that customers can purchase.
"We have a lot of pickled foods, jams and chutney that comes in jars," he said.
"Sourcing local products is our main priority but we do have products that come from other areas and it also depends on the season and availability."
